A new TV anime adaptation is on the way for this year with the sequel manga series Megumi no Daigo: Orange of the Saving the Country, which came from the Firefighter!: Daigo of Fire Company manga. We learned in December 2022 that the series has Masahiko Murata directing it at Brain’s Base and now a new update has landed. We learned a couple of months ago that it’ll be handled overseas as the folks at Crunchyroll have confirmed that they’ll be streaming it this fall as Firefighter Daigo: Rescuer in Orange.

Now, as the summer season gets closer to wrapping up, the official site for this is reminding us of the fall programs and this one is getting some attention. The show was previously set for a September 30th, 2023 premiere, and a couple more characters have been cast with:

  • Katsuyuki Konishi as Daigo Asahina
  • Takehito Koyasu as Shirō Amakasu

The Japanese cast includes:

  • Junya Enoki as Daigo Toake
  • Taku Yashiro as Shun Onoda
  • Ayane Sakura as Yuki Nakamura
  • Y?ichi Nakamura as Sadaie Matoi
  • Tetsu Inada as Ky?suke Yamagami
  • Y?hei Azakami as Hasebe
  • Ry?ta Iwasaki as Watari

The manga from Masahito Soda and Kuro Tmoyama began in 2020 and has five volumes so far with it ongoing. The prior series began in 1995 with twenty volumes that finished out which Viz Media released in English.

Original Concept: Fire, smoke, adrenaline, and fear–when everyone is running to escape from a fire, a few courageous people are running to jump right into the thick of it. Firefighters put their own lives on the line to protect others and Daigo Asahina has always dreamed of becoming one. He’s fresh out of the training academy and has been newly assigned to Medaka-Ga-Hama fire station. Cocky and overconfident, Daigo responds to a few calls and is quickly humbled and put in his place–he’s still got a lot to learn before he can call himself a true firefighter.
