‘Helck’ Gets New Promo & Key Visual Ahead Of 2nd Cour

3 min read

A new anime adaptation is in our future as Nanaki Nanao previously confirmed that their series Helck is getting an anime adaptation. No details regarding the adaptation were revealed with the announcement back in February 2022. With the show set for a summer 2023 debut, HIDIVE recently announced its pickup of the series and brought out an English-subtitled trailer for its exclusive simulcast.

The series is set with a two-cour run that looks like it’s going without a break. The show debuted on July 11th, 2023 and now things are set for the second cour. The official site has now rolled out a new promotional video below and a new key visual along with previewing the second cour theme song of “HELP” from Aimi.

“We’re thrilled to offer the highly anticipated anime series HELCK as a HIDIVE exclusive,” said John Ledford, President of HIDIVE, earlier this summer. “This exciting new action fantasy series is just the first of many exclusive simulcasts that our subscribers – especially shōnen fans – can look forward to watching on HIDIVE this summer!”

The show has Tatsuo Sato directing it with Toshizo Nemoto and Mitsutaka Hirota working on the scenario. Yoshinori Deno is working on the character designs with Satelight handling the animation production.

Plot Concept: After a crushing defeat at the hands of humanity, the demons are ready to elect their new Demon King! Only demons don’t decide their rulers at the ballot box. Instead, a fighting tournament will determine who inherits the crown and the task of leading the demons back to their former glory. The latest tournament of succession is going smoothly—except for the tiny detail that a former HUMAN hero named Helck just walked away victorious! Sure, Helck claims he hates humans as much as the next demon, but his new subjects aren’t so sure of his motivations. They send Red Vermilio, one of the Four Heavenly Demon Kings, to investigate Helck’s true intentions for the demon realm. The title of Demon King is at stake, and now the fate of the demon world is in Red’s demonic hands!
