The manga Horimiya by HERO and Daisuke Hagiwara was slotted for an anime adaptation with a January 9th, 2021 premiere as announced. The show has seen a couple of home video releases recently in different areas and Crunchyroll recently added some new dubs for it. With the anime as seen covering the manga in total, we learned in March 2023 that we’re getting a second season that will go back and adapt the stories that were skipped throughout the series in order to get a tight one-and-done project.

The show has a July 2023 debut as Horimiya – The Missing Pieces – and the home video releases in Japan are being handled by Aniplex. They’ve set a seven-volume release for the thirteen-episode series on both DVD and Blu-ray where each volume is a limited edition priced at 6,000 yen and 7,000 yen respectively. The first volume with a single episode is priced at 3,000 yen and 4,000 yen respectively.

With the third set coming up on October 25th, 2023, we now have our first look at the cover artwork for it. Check out the known details and cover artwork below.

The series features the same staff as the first season with Masashi Ishihama directing based on the series composition by Takao Yoshioka. Haruka Iizuka is handling the character designs with production being handled by CloverWorks.

The Japanese cast includes Haruka Tomatsu as Kyouko Hori and Kouki Uchiyama as Izumi Miyamura. The supporting cast includes Seiichiro Yamashita Naruse as Toru Ishikawa and Yurie Kozakai (Pekola in Dropkick on My Devil!!) as Yuki Yoshikawa. Additional casting includes Nobuhiko Okamoto as Kakeru Sengoku, MAO as Remi Ayasaki, and Reina Kondo as Sakura Kōno.

The series has Caitlin Glass as the ADR director working with Shawn Gann as the assistant ADR director. They’re working from scripts by Jeramey Kraatz and Jessica Sluys with a cast that includes Marisa Duran as Kyoko Hori, Alejandro Saab as Izumi Miyamura, Zeno Robinson as Toru Ishikawa, Anairis Quiñones as Yuki Yoshikawa, Belsheber Rusape as Kakeru Sengoku, Jalitza Delgado as Remi Ayasaki, Celeste Perez as Kono Sakura, Y. Chang as Shu Iura, and Emily Fajardo as Sota Hori.

Yen Press publishes the manga in English.

Plot Concept: Admired at school for her friendly attitude and academic achievements, high school student Kyouko Hori has been hiding another side to herself. With her parents often away from home due to work, Hori also has to look after her younger brother and do the housework, leaving no opportunities to make friends and socialize outside of school. Meanwhile, Izumi Miyamura is seen as a brooding, glasses-wearing, otaku. In reality, he is a gentle person hopeless at studying. He also has nine piercings hidden behind his long hair and a tattoo along his back and left shoulder.

By sheer happenstance, Hori and Miyamura cross paths outside of school—neither looking as the other expects. These seemingly polar opposites become fast friends, sharing with each other a side of themselves they have never shown to anyone else.
