‘The Blue Orchestra’ TV Anime Adds New Trailer As Finale Nears

Good news for fans of music-oriented works as Ao no Orchestra, aka The Blue Orchestra, is getting an anime adaptation. Announced in April 2022 for a spring 2023 debut, we’ve had a visual for it and the main staff but no cast. The show was previously set for an April 9th, 2023 premiere at 17:00 JST when it arrives on NHK and now a new update has come in.

With the show wrapping up in just a few episodes with its twenty-four-episode run, NHK has brought out a new video (via Twitter only that sets the stage for what’s to come.

The show will be directed by Seiji Kishi and is based on the scripts written and overseen by Yuuko Kakihara. Kazuaki Morita is on board to handle the character designs with Nippon Animation working on the production.

The Japanese cast (with musical performers in parentheses) includes:

The manga from Makoto Akui began in 2017 in the Manga ONE app and has ten volumes out as of April 19th, 2022.

Plot Concept: In the fall of his third and final year of middle school, Hajime Aono, a violin prodigy, stopped playing violin for his own personal reasons. But it was also that year when he got to know a girl who told him about a high school with a prestigious school orchestra. Suddenly, the gears in the clock of Aono’s life began to turn again. This is the story of a youth drama that brings forth the harmony between music and the heart!
