12th ‘Ayaka: A Story of Bonds and Wounds’ Anime Episode Previewed

A new original anime project was revealed in the fall of 2022 with Ayaka: A Story of Bonds and Wounds. We’ve gotten a lot of information over the months since the announcement and Crunchyroll picked up the property as part of the summer 2023 simulcast season. With a July 1st, 2023 premiere date set for it previously, the official site has updated with the first look at the twelfth episode that’s due out on September 16th, 2023.

The series will be directed by Nobuyoshi Nagayama and is based on the scripts from GoRa. redjuice worked on the original character designs with Misaki Kaneko adapting them while Studio Blanc is handling the animation production.

The Japanese cast includes Yūto Uemura as Yukito Yanagi, Takuma Terashima as Jingi Sagawa, Kousuke Toriumi as Haruaki Kurama, Yuichiro Umehara as Aka Ibuki, Gakuto Kajiwara as Chatarō Fukuwake, Yuki Sakakihara as Yako Amano, Yuichiro Umehara as Aka Ibuki, Kana Hanazawa as Ibara Ichijō, Jun Fukuyama as Taihei Makita, Kenjiro Tsuda) as Makoto Yanagi, Saori Hayami as Momoko Amamiya, Nobuo Tobita as Sanji Inou, and Hekiru Shiina as Mitama.

The project features the opening theme song performed by angela with “AYAKASHI” while saji will handle the ending theme song “Flashback” for the show.

Plot Concept: Set on Ayakashima island, Yukito is a boy with a mysterious power to control water while Jingi, a student of his dead father, comes back to the island where he was born. Yukito’s return is mysteriously anticipated by two other men on the island.
