Disney+ Reveals ‘Werewolf by Night’ Special Getting Color Streaming & Hulu Distribution

A 70s classic finds a new life.

While there are a lot of properties that Marvel has that may not be able to sustain a full series (though this isn’t one of them), the potential for specials and event kind of projects makes for some good exploitation. Marvel Studios last year brought out the Halloween 2022 special for Werewolf by Night. It saw an October 7th, 2022 debut as part of Phase 4 and directed by Michael Giacchino.

Now, Hulu will be adding the show to its service as of September 15th, 2023 but it will be there only until October 31st, 2023, which makes sense as a nice bit of Halloween horror. The new bit that came up, however, is that Disney+ will be bringing the original special out in color for the first time on October 20th, 2023 to complement the original one and provide an interesting look at the differences. Check out a few shots from it below.

The cast includes Gael Carcia Bernal and Laura Donnelly.

There are a couple of different characters that have held the name over the years, the original Jack Russell from 1972, and then Jake Gomez from the new incarnation in 2020. It’s like a combination of both that will serve as inspiration for this project.

Property Concept: Jack Russell is a descendant of the mystically-altered offshoot of humans known as Lycanthropes, who eventually becomes capable of transforming on his own volition even without a full moon, and retaining his intellect while transformed.
