Madman Schedules ‘Love Live! Nijigasaki High School Idol Club’ 2nd Anime Season Blu-ray Release

The fall 2020 anime series Love Live! Nijigasaki High School Idol Club is one that went over pretty well as this franchise expanded and it’s now getting some new attention with some overseas distribution. The second season of the series is now scheduled for a December 6th, 2023 debut from Australian distributor Madman Entertainment. The set is priced at $64.95 and will have the thirteen-episode run in bilingual form across two discs.

With a formal confirmation to come later when it’s solicited to retailers, what we know now is that the extras will include:

  • Commercials
  • Textless Opening Song
  • Textless Closing Song
  • Textless Ending Songs

The series has Tomoyuki Kawamura directing based on the scripts overseen by Jin Tanaka while Takumi Yokota is handling the character designs. Sunrise returns to work on the animation production itself.

The Japanese cast includes Aguri Ōnishi as Ayumu Uehara, Akari Kitō as Kanata Konoe, Chiemi Tanaka as Rina Tennōji, Kaori Maeda as Shizuku Ōsaka, Maria Sashide as Emma Verde, Mayu Sagara as Kasumi Nakasu, Miyu Kubota as Karin Asaka, Natsumi Murakami as Ai Miyashita, Tomori Kusunoki as Setsuna Yūki, Moeka Koizumi as Shioriko Mifune, Shū Uchida as Mia Taylor, and Akina Hōmoto as Zhong Lanzhu.

With the English dub, it had Megan Shipman directing it at Okratron5000 Studios. The cast for it includes Caitlin Myers as Shioriko Mifune, Lindsay Sheppard as Mia Taylor, Courtney Lin as Zhong Lanzhu, Madeline Dorroh as Yu Takasaki, Suzie Yeung as Ayumu Uehara, Kayli Mills as Kasumi Nakasu, Jill Harris as Shizuku Osaka, Shara Kirby as Karin Asaka, Daisy Guevara as Ai MIyashita, Lindsay Seidel as Kanata Konoe, Laura Stahl as Setsuna Yuki, Lisa Reimold as Emma Verde, Hayden Daviau as Rina Tennoji, and Alexis Tipton as Jennifer. Rachel Thompson, Marianne Bray, Lucía Lobosvilla, Krystal LaPorte, Dusty Feeney, Luci Christian, Kate Bristol, Kelsey Maher, Sara Ragsdale, and Emily Fajardo are providing additional voicework in the series.

Plot Concept: Nijigasaki High School is located in Odaiba, Tokyo. The school is popular due to its free school style and diverse majors. The story centers on the members of the school idol club in Nijigasaki and their attempt to prevent the club from being abolished.
