The fall 2020 anime series Jujutsu Kaisen is one of those rare properties that not just boosted its original source material but overpowered it where it jumped to over 50 million compiled volumes in print in just a few months of airing. With the first season doing so well, the feature film doing very well, and a second season lined up in 2023, the show is currently working through a rebroadcast of the first season.

With the two-cour season set as a part of the July 2023 season, the show has had an odd schedule as it runs through August 3rd, 2023 and then does two compilation episodes and a skip week before going into the Shibuya Incident arc on August 31st. With that in mind, we now have a look at the 31st episode of the series as a whole and the seventh episode of the second season that’s set for a September 7th, 2023 premiere.

In terms of production, Sunghoo Park is directing the series based on the scripts from Hiroshi Seko. Tadashi Hiramatsu is adapting the original character designs and MAPPA will be handling the animation for the production.

The Japanese cast includes Junya Enoki as Yūji Itadori, Yūma Uchida as Megumi Fushiguro, Asami Seto as Nobara Kugisaki, Junichi Suwabe as Sukuna Ryomen, Mikako Komatsu as Maki Zenin, Kouki Uchiyama as Toge Inumaki, Kenjiro Tsuda as Kento Nanami, and Tomokazu Seki as Panda. Additional cast includes Nobunaga Shimazaki as Mahito, Takahiro Sakurai as Suguru Geto, Atsuko Tanaka as Hanami, Shigeru Chiba as Shogo, Marina Inoue as Mai Zen’in, Subaru Kimura as Aoi Todo, Mugihito as Yoshinobu Gakuganji, Chinatsu Akasaki as Kazumi Miwa, Aya Endo as Shoko Ieiri, Takaya Kuroda as Masamichi Yaga, Yoshitaka Yamaya as Junpei Yoshino, and Mitsuo Iwata as Kiyotaka Ijichi.

The series comes from Gege Akutami which began in 2018 and has sixteen volumes out as of June 2021.

The first season of the series has set Eve to perform the opening theme song “Kaikai Kitan” while Ali will handle the ending with “Lost in Paradise feat. AKLO.” The second season has the opening theme is “Ao no Sumika” as performed by Tatsuya Kitani, while Soushi Sakiyama performs the ending theme song “Akari.”

Plot Concept: Hardship, regret, shame: the negative feelings that humans feel become Curses that lurk in our everyday lives. The Curses run rampant throughout the world, capable of leading people to terrible misfortune and even death. What’s more, the Curses can only be exorcised by another Curse.

Itadori Yuji is a boy with tremendous physical strength, though he lives a completely ordinary high school life. One day, to save a friend who has been attacked by Curses, he eats the finger of the Double-Faced Specter, taking the Curse into his own soul. From then on, he shares one body with the Double-Faced Specter. Guided by the most powerful of sorcerers, Gojo Satoru, Itadori is admitted to the Tokyo Metropolitan Technical High School of Sorcery, an organization that fights the Curses… and thus begins the heroic tale of a boy who became a Curse to exorcise a Curse, a life from which he could never turn back.
