Frontier Works is dipping back into the past once again with a release of the 2004 TV series Mermaid Melody Pichi Pichi Pitch Pure series. The distributor has set a standard definition Blu-ray box set for November 29th, 2023 where it’ll contain the 39-episode season priced at 27,000 yen. It’ll be a two-disc set that’s listing the theme songs as its main extra at the moment.
The series was directed by Yoshitaka Fujimoto with scripts overseen by Michiko Yokote. Kazuaki Makida handled the character designs with Actas and SynergySP handling the animation production.
The Japanese cast includes:
- Asumi Nakada as Lucia Nanami
- Daisuke Kishio as Kaito Domoto
- Hitomi Terakado as Hanon Hōshō
- Mayumi Asano as Rina Toin
Plot Concept: As the mermaid princess of the North Pacific (one of the seven mermaid kingdoms), Lucia entrusts a magical pearl to a boy who falls overboard a ship one night. Lucia must travel to the human world to reclaim her pearl and protect the mermaid kingdoms. Using the power of music Lucia is able to protect herself and the mermaid kingdoms from a growing evil force.
