2021 was good for the Tokyo Revengers manga as it had a live-action film opening this past fall and it had a two-cour anime adaptation as well. Previously, it was revealed that another anime project is coming to adapt the Christmas Showdown arc from the manga. The first series saw distribution through Crunchyroll for its simulcast while with the Christmas Showdown arc, Disney and Kodansha brought it out as a worldwide exclusive on Disney+ and Disney+ Hotstar when it debuted in January 2023.
We learned previously that Tenjiku arc of the manga is going to be adapted into anime form. The new arc is now set for an October 3rd, 2023 premiere and a new promo and key visual have dropped for it:
The series has Koichi Hatsumi directing it based on the scripts by Yasuyuki Muto. Kenichi Ohnuki is on board with Keiko Ota on character designs with LIDEN FILMS handling the animation production.
The previously announced Japanese cast includes Yūki Shin as Takemichi Hanagaki, Azumi Waki as Hinata Tachibana, Ryota Ohsaka as Naoto Tachibana, Yuu Hayashi as Manjirō “Mikey” Sano, Masaya Fukunishi as Ken “Doraken” Ryūgūji, Takuma Terashima as Atsushi “Akkun” Sendо̄, Yūya Hirose as Takuya Yamamoto, Shunsuke Takeuchi as Makoto Suzuki, Shouta Hayama as Kazushi Yamagishi, Satoshi Hino as Masataka “Kiyomasa” Kiyomizu, Mikako Komatsu as Yuzuha Shiba, and Tomokazu Sugita as Taiju Shiba
The newly announced members include Masaaki Mizunaka as Keisuke Baji, Yoshitsugu Matsuoka as Takashi Mitsuya, Subaru Kimura as Haruki Hayashida, Yukihiro Nozuyama as Ryōhei Hayashi, Kengo Kawanishi as Nahoya Kawata, Daisuke Ono as Yasuhiro Mutō, and Eiji Takeuchi as Nobutaka Osanai.
The opening theme song is “White Noise” by Official HiGE DAndism and eill is handling the ending theme song for the series with “Koko de Iki o Shite.”
Kodansha Comics picked the series up for release back in 2018 and has been releasing it digitally since.
