We learned in July 2022 that the No Longer Human…In Another World manga by Hiroshi Noda and Takahiro Wakamatsu was getting an anime adaptation. We didn’t get any details then and we don’t have much now but in June 2023 Kadokawa has dropped the first teaser for it below along with a key visual that reveals plans for a 2024 debut.

Now, the Japanese side has updated once again with the slimmest of teases by giving us a character key visual of our leading character.

The Japanese cast includes:

  • TBA

Known originally as Isekai Shikkaku, the property began serialization in 2019 through Yawaraka Spirits from Shogakukan based on the single novel of the same name that came out in 1948 from Osamu Dazai. It currently has five volumes and is ongoing in Japan.

The first volume was released for the first time in North America in October 2022 for $13.99 USA / $17.99 CAN, available in print and on digital platforms in single-volume editions.

Plot Concept: An adventure in another world with cute girls by your side and video game-like powers–sounds like an anime fan’s dream, right? Not so for melancholic author Osamu Dazai, who would quite literally prefer to drop dead. Video games haven’t even been invented yet when he gets yanked into another world in 1948. Really, all the fantastical adventure he keeps running into is just getting in the way of his poetic dream of finding the perfect place to die. But no matter how much he risks his hide, everything seems to keep turning out okay. Follow a miserable hero like no other in this cheerfully bleak isekai comedy!
