The Zegapain series is one that’s been lost to the last decade after Bandai Entertainment released it but it has resurfaced in Japan once again. The official social media for the property came to life back in 2020 to reveal that a new original novel was in the works for 2021. The first novel came out in 2009 while the second came out in 2011.
Now, the official site has revealed that a new sequel anime installment is in the works called the Olta Moda Arc. No details were revealed regarding what form the project would take.
It’s worth noting as well that the original 2006 TV series is getting a rebroadcast on Tokyo M this year with the compilation film to come some time after it as well with Zegapain ADP
A ten-year anniversary theatrical film was released in 2016 which was made up of the original project with new scenes added. The TV series got a box set release on August 31st, 2016 and was priced at 32,000 yen. That set included a booklet, a new video extra from the Sunrise Festival 2015 event, the clean opening and closings, the eleventh episode with the original ending, various promos, and a gallery. We’re also getting the audio commentary that was created for the 2010 release with this set.
Sentai Filmworks acquired the TV series for release back in 2013 as part of its pickup of multiple Bandai Entertainment licenses but never released it.
Plot concept: Kyo, an avid swimmer tries his best to keep the high school swimming club going, which is pretty hard when he’s the only member. Facing the prospect of the club being closed by the student council, he tries to enlist beautiful Misaki to act in a promo video, shot by his good friend Ryoko, in a bid to start a recruitment drive. She agrees but only if he pilots a mecha under the wing of Celebrum, a resistance organisation fighting to destroy Deutera Areas formed on Earth by the aliens Gards-orm. He agrees but finds it all strangely familiar as if he’s done it before…
