Discotek Media is dipping into the classic pool with the 1988 anime series Crying Freeman, which saw release over several years in Japan and with different directors for each installment. The distributor is bringing this out on Blu-ray for the first time anywhere in the world. It’ll include the Streamline/ADV Film dub as well as the Manga UK dub along with updated subtitles.
With the set scheduled earlier this week, Discotek Media is utilizing their YouTube channel a bit more and has added a preview of the HD remastered footage from the third episode. Now, for some fans, this may not really mean much of anything, but for fans who have owned VHS tapes through previous DVD releases and have seen the worst of this show on home video, this is definitely pretty impressive even when factoring in that it’s a streaming video and all the compression that comes from that.
The show has been set for a November 28th, 2023 release priced at $39.95 with the finalized cover artwork to the right released for it.
Extras for the set will include the trailers, recap, and a look at the previous English releases.
