One of the series that the Disney+ service announced in the realm of Star Wars previously is the Ahsoka project, which will feature Rosario Dawson in the lead as she reprises the role from The Mandalorian. From what we know so far since it was announced in December 2020, Jon Favreau and Dave Filoni are developing it, and it will take place alongside The Mandalorian, which places it well after Rebels.

With a lot of excitement coming out from the Star Wars Celebration event earlier this spring, Disney+ recently set an August 23rd, 2023 premiere date for it. As we’re just a bit a few weeks away from it arriving, the studio has now brought out a new teaser that provides for Anakin talking to Ahsoka as he has done many times in the Clone Wars animated work but this time it’s voiced by Hayden Christiansen, giving us hope for some more flashback material in the show.

The show looks like it’s certainly going to play things serious but with a found-family bond that existed across the four seasons of Rebels giving it a lot of life.

The cast for the series is led by Rosario Dawson as Ahsoka and is joined by Ray Stevenson, Natasha Liu Bordizzo as Sabine Wren from the animated series, and Mary Elizabeth Winstead as Hera. Eman Esfandi is on board as Ezra Bridger. Lars Mikkelsen is reprising his role as Thrawn as is David Tennant as Huyang. Hayden Christensen also is expected to reprise his role as Anakin Skywalker.

With Dave Filoni writing the series, we’re definitely putting a lot of earned trust into this.

Plot Concept: Ahsoka Tano investigates an emerging threat to the galaxy following the fall of the Empire.
