While we saw the overall month explored before with the general mix of graphic novels for the month of June 2023, ICv2 has now broken out the manga into its own category to explore and see how things went down. While the world of manga struggles with getting reprints out there for older volumes, especially for smaller series, this month also shows a rare change in that Viz dominates but we do get three slots that go to other publishers.
We’ve seen the natural cooling down of the Spy x Family property and only two volumes are in the top twenty at the moment. It’s no surprise that One Piece getting the top spot with the latest volume as well as the first Demon Slayer doing so well with a new season of the anime wrapping up recently. Similar with Chainsaw Man getting people into things and Jujutsu Kaisen as well.
When it comes to non-Viz Media books, things are a bit better this month than some recent months as there are four books are on it that aren’t from Viz Media. Dark Horse continues to do well with the high-priced prestige first volume of Berserk as it’s been charting for what feels like forever now. Yen Press gets Toilet Bound Hanako-kun this month along Oshi no Ko while Square Enix shows the strength of My Dress-Up Darling.
