We learned back in May 2022 the good news for fans of the Konosuba: An Explosion On This Wonderful World! light novels as an anime adaptation of this prequel were in the works. December 2022 saw the news that the show was set for a spring 2023 debut and it recently saw an April 5th, 2023 premiere for it.
With Crunchyroll streaming the series, they’re now doing some new promotion for it with a new clip. This one comes from the sixth episode that you can see below which highlights when she achieved the look!
The English dub got underway back on April 19th, 2023. The dub, produced by Bang Zoom! Studios, has Chris Cason directing it from the scripts by Laura Stahl. The English cast includes Erica Mendez as Megumin, Kayli Mills as Yunyun, Joe J. Thomas as Pucchin / Hyoizaburo, Dawn M. Bennett as Arnes, Dorothy Fahn as Yuiyui, Marissa Lenti as Arue, Reba Buhr as Wolbach / Funifura, Jackie Lastra as Komekko, Ryan Bartley as Dodonko, Michelle Marie as Nerimaki, Maureen Price as Poritan, Jason Marnocha as Headmaster, and Arnie Pantoja as Narrator.
Yujiro Abe will be directing it based on the series composition by Makoto Uezeu. Koichi Kikuta is on board as the character designer with studio Drive handling the animation production. Takaomi Kanasaki is overseeing the project as series director.
The Japanese cast includes Rie Takahashi as Megumin, Aki Toyosaki as Yunuyun, Maria Naganawa as Komekko, Kaori Nazuka as Arue, Miyu Tomita as Funifura, Sayumi Suzushiro as Dodonko, and Shizuka Ishigami as Nerimaki.
Machico is performing “Stay Free” as the opening theme song while series leads Rie Takahashi and Aki Toyosaki will perform “Jump In” as the ending theme song.
The novel series was written by Natsume Akatsuki, and illustrated by Kasumi Morino. Yen Press currently licenses and releases the light novel series and the manga.
