With the Mashle: Magic and Muscles manga from Hajime Komoto running for some time now – 130+ chapters out so far – the property is starting to feel like it’s getting close to wrapping things up to some fans. We had the announcement earlier during Anime Expo that an anime adaptation is coming in 2023, the listing of it as being a “complete” adaptation on the official site certainly cements that.
With the series set for a spring 2023 debut, we learned most recently that Crunchyroll would be handling the simulcast and that it would see an April 7th, 2023 premiere date in Japan. Now, the folks at Crunchyroll are doing some clips from the series and have this fun one from the sixth episode where Mash uses his big bang dash!
The Japanese cast includes:
- Chiaki Kobayashi as Mashle
- Reiji Kawashima as Finn Ames
- Kaito Ishikawa as Lance Crown
- Takuya Eguchi as Dot Barrett
- Reina Ueda as Lemon Irvine
- Yuuki Kaji as Rayne Ames
- Yuichiro Umehara as Abel Walker
- Hiroki Nanami as Abyss Razor
Tomoya Tanaka is on board to direct it based on the scripts overseen by Yousuke Kuroda. Hisashi Toshima is handling the character designs with A-1 Pictures handling the animation production.

Plot Concept: In the magic realm, magic is everything—everyone can use it, and one’s skill determines their social status. Deep in the forest, oblivious to the ways of the world, lives Mash. Thanks to his daily training, he’s become a fitness god. When Mash is discovered, he has no choice but to enroll in magic school, where he must beat the competition without revealing his secret—he can’t use magic!
Mash just wants to live in peace with his father in the forest. But the only way he’ll ever be accepted in the magic realm is by attending magic school and becoming a Divine Visionary—an exceptional student revered as one of God’s chosen. But without an ounce of magic to his name, Mash will have to punch his way to the top spot.
