Hulu Schedules ‘By the Grace of the Gods’ Anime 2nd Season English Dub Streaming

We learned in February 2020 that another novel adaptation into anime was in the works with the By the Grace of the Gods property and then learned that Funimation is a co-producer on the series. With an October 4th, 2020 debut on TV Tokyo and streaming, Funimation handled both the simulcast and simuldub for it. Back in the summer of 2021, we got the news that a second season was coming for it and with plans for a winter 2023 debut. Previously set for a January 8th, 2023 debut, the folks at Crunchyroll got the English dub rolling not long after and are now expanding on that.

The Hulu streaming service has now revealed plans that they’ll be bringing out the English dub as well on June 23rd, 2023 where it’ll be a full-season drop when it arrives. They already have the Japanese side available as part of the simulcast of the series.

Funimation is co-producing the series that has Takeyuki Yanase directing it and based on the scripts by Yuka Yamada. Maho Film is handling the animation with Kaho Deguchi serving as the character designer and the chief animation director.

The Japanese cast includes Azusa Tadokoro as Ryoma, Saori Hayami as Elise, Takehito Koyasu as Reinbach, Yūki Hirose as Welanna, Yūki Takada as Mizelia, Yui Fukuo as Cilia, and Tetsu Inada as Wogan. The recent new cast additions include Makoto Yasumura as Serge, Junya Enoki as Dorche, Risa Kubota as Carla, Sakura Nakamura as Calum, Hiro Shimono as Tony, Kenichi Suzumura as Pioro, Daisuke Hirakawa as Prenance, Tetsu Inada as Worgan, Nobuyuki Hiyama as Tekun, Takuya Eguchi as Fernobelia, Akira Ishida as Caulkin, and Manami Numakura as Robelia.

Jad Saxton is again directing it with Aaron Dismuke stepping in to assist as they work from scripts by Jessica Sluys. The English cast includes Emily Neves as Ryoma Takebayashi, Charlie Campbell as Serge, Dani Chambers as Carla, Lee George as Callum, Patrick McAlister as Tekun, Suzie Yeung as Eliaria Jamil, Brittney Karbowski as Jane, Emi Lo as Li Ling, Felecia Angelle as Fina, Jeannie Tirado as Maria, Jennifer Alyx as Nun, Michelle Rojas as Selma, Oscar Seung as Fei, and Wendy Powell as Glissela.

The series comes from Roy and Ririnra which is published by Hobby Japan. Beginning in 2015, there are eight volumes out as of the announcement.

For the first season, Azusa Tadokoro performed the opening theme song “Yasashii Sekai” while MindaRyn performed the ending theme song “Blue Rose knows.”

The theme songs for the 2nd season are set with MindaRyn on board for the opening theme song “Way to go” while Azusa Tadokoro performs the ending theme song “Drum-Shiki Tansaki” for it.

Plot Concept: Under the protection of the gods, a relaxed life with slimes in another world begins!

One day, the life of middle-aged Japanese businessman Ryoma Takebayashi came to a rather sudden and disappointing end. Ryoma had never had a blessed life, but after his death, three great gods sought his cooperation and reincarnated him as a child in another world with swords and magic!

Receiving a most cordial and divine welcome from the gods, Ryoma decides to live leisurely on his own in the forest for the time being. Working diligently at magic and hunting, Ryoma’s greatest passion comes to be researching his tamed slimes?! Training a variety of slimes (some newly discovered), the curtain rises on this easygoing life fantasy celebrating a second life with kind people in another world!
