Media Blasters revealed back in October 2020 that they were expecting in materials for a high definition release of 10 Tokyo Warriors. That was a new reveal at the time for a classic that would be getting a Blu-ray for the first time. While that has come and gone, the show is now getting some new streaming distribution as it’s available for RetroCrush members for streaming through distributor Cinedigm. It’s in its original Japanese language with English subtitles and can be found here.
The previous DVD release came out years ago and the OVAs were brought out in 1997 to 2002 originally for the six-episode run that it had. The Blu-ray release arrived on September 28th, 2021. Check out our review of the show.
Based on the original work by Takashi Shouji, the series was directed by Hikaru Takanashi, Keizo Shimizu, and Noboru Ishiguro over its run. Tetsuya Oishi scripted them while Sawaka Yamamoto handled the character design based on Satoi Yuiga’s original work. ZEXCS produced the animation for the first half of the run.
The English dub was directed by Elisa Fiorillo based on their script with a cast that included Michael Ann as Jutto Sego/Jusshu, Beth Ginnett, Dale Weinstein, Jeanne Michaels, Jen Finley, Jennesy Elshire, Jimmy Key, Kelly Early, Larry Law, Marcus Junkin, Natalina Maggio, Rachel Kemp, Russel Shore, Scott Burnett, Selah Victor, Todd Boaz, and Wesley Freitas.
Plot Concept: Long ago, in feudal Japan, there was a fierce warrior named the Demon King. He controlled a band of demons, known as the Kyouma. Only the powers of ten warriors sealed the Demon King away and kept the Kyouma under control. But now, Lord Shindigan, a powerful Kyouma is planning to free the Demon King, and the reincarnations of the ten warriors must band together and save the earth.
