Viz Media announced last year that Shuhei Miyazaki’s manga series Me & Roboco is getting done as compiled volumes for release in English. With the simulpub underway, the distributor started bringing out volumes this fall for it as a digital exclusive. We learned in May 2022 that the property is going to be getting an anime adaptation which was originally set for a winter 2023 premiere through TV Tokyo and others. The series saw a December 4th, 2022 debut, and we’re now getting the home video release side set for it.
Happinet has scheduled a Blu-ray box set of 28 episodes for an August 2nd, 2023 release priced at 9,900 yen. The set will come with a storyboard video with the director as well as a pair of commentaries.
The main Japanese cast includes Shun Matsuo as Roboco, Minami Tsuda as Bondo Taira, Ryotaro Okiayu as Gachi Gorilla, Shunsuke Takeuchi as ,Motsuo Kaneo, M.A.O as Madoka, Sae Hiratsuka as Meiko, Kotono Mitsuishi as Bondo’s mother, and Inori Minase as Weak-Kneed Roboco.
Akitaro Daichi is directing the show with Michihiro Sato as the assistant director. Sayuri Ooba is overseeing the scripts with Yuko Ebara handling the character designs. Studio Gallop is on board for the animation production.
The series by Shuhei Miyazaki began in July 2020 and is ongoing with eight volumes as serialized in Weekly Shonen Jump as of this week.
Plot Concept: Set in a future where every household owns maid robots known as OrderMaids, average grade-schooler, Bondo Taira, dreams of having his very own robot because of his friends, Gachi Gorilla and Motsuo Kaneo always brags about Kaneo’s OrderMaid, Meico. With some convincing, Bondo manages to make his mom agree and get them one, but what he received is an unable-to-compute maid named Roboco, the most powerful clumsy maid ever created. With Roboco’s arrival, Bondo’s life starts to get a whole lot weirder.
