The folks at P.A. Works and Cygames came together for a new original TV anime series with Akiba Maid War. Happinet is handling the home video releases for it and they’ve set a three-volume release for the twelve-episode series that begins on January 11th, 2023. With four episodes per set, the Blu-ray-only releases will be priced at 14,000 yen each.
With the first set almost out, we’ve now updated our look at the first two sets by removing the sample previews and adding in the finalized full packaging spreads for them.
The series has Soichi Masui directing it based on the scripts overseen by Yoshihiro Hiki. Manabu Nii is on board as both character designer and chief animation director with P.A. Works handling the animation production.
The Japanese cast includes:
- Reina Kondo as Nagomi Kazuhira
- Rina Satou as Ranko Kazutoshi
- Minami Tanaka as Yumechi
- Tomoyo Kurosawa as Shiipon
- Ayahi Takagaki as the cafe manager

Plot Concept: Akihabara is the center of the universe for the coolest hobbies and quirkiest amusements. In the spring of 1999, bright-eyed Nagomi Wahira moves there with dreams of joining a maid café. She quickly dons an apron at café Ton Tokoton, AKA the Pig Hut. But adjusting to life in bustling Akihabara isn’t as easy as serving tea and delighting customers. Paired with the dour Ranko who never seems to smile, Nagomi must do her best to elevate the Pig Hut over all other maid cafés vying for top ranking. Along the way, she’ll slice out a place for herself amid the frills and thrills of life at the Pig Hut. Just when Nagomi’s dreams are within her grasp, she discovers not everything is as it seems amid the maid cafés of Akihabara.
