With a popular manga series that’s currently ongoing, the Komi Can’t Communicate property is making the leap to anime form this fall. The manga began in 2016 in Weekly Shonen Sunday and the first anime season saw an October 6th, 2021 debut for it. With the second cour making an April 6th, 2022 premiere in Japan, the series has now launched with its overseas Netflix streaming. With the second series having been released, a new clip has arrived that comes in at two minutes where we get to enjoy the cold season with the fun of building a snowman!
The anime adaptation saw Ayumu Watanabe as the chief director working with director Kazuki Kawagoe based on the series composition by Deko Akao. Atsuko Nakajima is working on the character designs with OLM handling the animation production.
The Japanese cast includes Aoi Koga as Shōko Komi, Gakuto Kajiwara as Hitohito Tadano, Rie Murakawa as Najimi Osana, Rina Hidaka as Ren Yamai, Rumi Okubo as Omoharu Nakanaka, Yukiyo Fujii as Himiko Agari, Noriko Hidaka as the narrator, Ami Maeshima as Makeru Yadano, Sarah Emi Bridcutt as Akako Onigashima, Kenji Akabane as Shigeo Chiarai, Yuga Sato as Taisei Sonoda, Kensho Ono as Mono Shinobino, Junya Enoki as Shosuke Komi, Maaya Uchida as Hitomi Tadano, Kikuo Inoue as Shuko Komi, Mitsusaki Hoshino as Masayoshi Komi, Megumi Han as Nokoko Inaka, Ruriko Aoki as Nene Onemine, and Yurika Moriyama as Kaede Otori.
The English dub was directed by Michael Sorichat VSI Group in Los Angeles with a cast that includes Amber Lee Connors as Shōko Komi, Kyle McCarley as Hitohito Tadano, Skyler Davenport as Najimi Osana, Casey Mongillo as Nene Onemine, Cherami Leigh as Omoharu Nakanaka, Cristina Vee as Ren Yamai, Devin Hennessy as Taisei Sonoda, Dorothy Fahn as Shuko Komi, Erika Harlacher as Akako Onigashima, Jack Dillon as Mono Shinobimono, Kira Buckland as Makeru Yadano, Sarah Anne Williams as Himiko Agari, and Sean Chiplock as Shigeo Chiarai.
For the second season, Miku Ito is handling the opening theme song “100 Blue Colors.” FantasticYouth is handling the ending theme song with “Fine Day for Small Talk.” The first season’s opening song “Cinderella” is performed by Cider Girl while Kitri is performing the ending theme song “Hikareinochi” for the series.
