‘Malevolent Spirits: Mononogatari’ Anime Adaptation Debuts ARCANA PROJECT Music Video

Another manga is on the anime adaptation track with Monogatari from Onigunsou. We learned about this back in November 2021 that the property was coming and we got a big update this past may with some of the cast and the main staff. Recently, the Japanese side has updated with a new promotional video for the series which revealed a January 9th, 2023 debut as part of the winter season. Now, as things get closer, a new bit of promotion has landed with the full music video for the song Koigoromo from ARCANA PROJECT that serves as the opening theme for the show.

The series has Ryuichi Kimura as the chief director. Takahiro Okawa is directing it based on the series composition by Keiichiro Ochi. Shiori Fujisawa is handling the character designs for it with BN Pictures handling the animation production.

The Japanese cast includes:

  • Chikahiro Kobayashi as Nagi
  • Yuki Takada as Botan Nagatsuki
  • Takeo Ootsuki as Kihei
  • Reina Ueda as Yu
  • Aimi Tanaka as Kagami
  • Yoshiki Nakajima as Suzuri
  • Miyuki Sawashiro as Haori

The manga from Onigunso began in 2014 and has thirteen volumes out as of the announcement. Seven Seas Entertainment will be bringing out the manga in English.

Plot Concept: The property deals with tsukumogami, spirits that have inhabited aged objects. The protagonist Hyōma Kunato despises tsukumogami after one of them took away something important from him. He comes to Kyoto and comes to live with Botan Nagatsuki, a girl who loves tsukumogami and lives with them as family.
