A sci-fi hero romantic comedy that you can audition for.

We learned back in 2019 that the Tondemo Senshi Muteking gag anime is getting a reboot with a planned 2020 debut as Tatsunoko and HoriPro International are working together on it. The pandemic threw a lot of things off, including this, but it was rescheduled with an October 2nd, 2021 premiere date. The show saw streaming on Funimation but it never got a dub produced for it. Now, the Japanese simulcast side has been brought over from Funimation’s site to Crunchyroll which puts it in front of a whole new audience.

Funimation streamed the series in the United States, Canada, United Kingdom, Australia, and New Zealand as it airs in Japan, as well as Mexico, Chile, Colombia, Peru, and Brazil.

Hiroshi Sasagawa is on board as the executive director with Ryousuke Takahashi as the chief director while Yuuzou Satou is dirting based on the scripts by Yuji Kondou. Tatsunoko Pro and Tezuka Productions are handling the action animation production.

The Japanese cast includes Kentarō Mashiro as Muteki, Takuya Eguchi as DJ, Satoshi Hino as Seo, Rie Takahashi as Aida-san, Madoka Yonezawa as An, Azusa Tadokoro as Naomi, Rikako Aikawa as Sera, Kazuyuki Okitsu as Vivi, Keiga as Haru, Hayato Kimura as Summer, Minami Tanaka as Aki, Kōtarō Nishiyama as Winter, KENN as Suteking, Yutaka Aoyama as Matt, Takashi Matsuyama as Tommy, Wataru Hatano as George, and Kenichi Suzumura as Owen.

The original series ran back in 1980 for 56 episodes.

Orange Range is handling the opening theme with “Labyrinth” while KALMA is handling the ending theme song with “Kibo no Uta.”
