With a home video release on Blu-ray back in 2014, I really enjoyed the Spectacular Spider-Man series. The two-season twenty-six-episode series delivered some great classic Spidey moments with old web head and had an all-star cast of actors for it with Josh Keaton, Lacey Chabert, James Arnold Taylor, Daran Norris, Vanessa Marshall, Joshua LeBar, Alanna Ubach, Clancy Brown, and Alan Rachins.
Originally airing in 2008, the show has been streaming for a few months on Netflix – arriving back in July 2022 – but now the streaming service is revealing that it’s getting an expiration date of December 16th, 2022. This looks to be a fairly global expiration and one can imagine that Disney is trying to pull it back onto their own service so they have all the Marvel goodness there and they’ve been streaming it concurrently since last month. A little crossover does happen here and there with complicated contracts.
Plot Concept: Get ready for hours of nonstop, super Spidey excitement as the world’s most famous web-slinging Super Hero returns in all 26 action-packed episodes from the hit series “The Spectacular Spider-Man™!” The line of Super Villains determined to take down Spidey seems never-ending. There’s Venom, Electro, Dr. Octopus, Sandman and Rhino – just to name a few. These criminals are almost more than he can handle and the stress would be enough to send a lesser Super Hero over the edge, but it’s all in a day’s work for The Spectacular Spider-Man™!
