Yen Press announced back in March 2021 about a new light novel pickup that’s definitely going to draw fans with I’m the Villainess, So I’m Taming the Final Boss. In October 2021, we learned of the anime adaptation which saw an October 1st, 2022 debut. With Crunchyroll streaming the series, Japanese distributor NBC Universal Japan announced today that it’ll be getting a Blu-ray box set with details to come on it. To highlight the set, they’ve dropped a new promo for it.

The series has Kumiko Habara directing it based on the series overseen and written by Kenta Ihara. Momoko Makiuchi, Eri Kojima, and Yūko Ōba are on board as the character designers with Maho Film handling the animation production.

The Japanese cast includes Rie Takahashi as Aileen Lauren Dautriche, Yuichiro Umehara as Claude Jeanne Elmir, Toshiki Masuda as Cedric Jeanne Elmir, Jun Fukuyama as Keith Elgrid, Yuki Ono as Beelzebub, Kana Hanazawa as Lilia Rainworth, Tomokazu Sugita as Almond, Yuma Uchida as Isaac Lombard, Hiroki Yasumoto as Jasper Varie, Takuto Yoshinaga as Doni, Shinichiro Kamio as Ruck, and Yu Miyazaki as Quartz.

The show has Jad Saxton directing it with Morgan Laure assisting and working from scripts by Natalie Van Sistine and Macy Anne Johnson as overseen by Emily Neves. The English cast includes John Burgmeier as Claude, Hayden Daviau as Lilia, Kyle Igneczi as Cedric, Brandon Johnson as Beelzebuth, Kyle Phillips as Keith, Anthony Bowling as Almond, Kamen Casey as Marcus, Sean Hennigan as Rudolph, and Emily Fajardo as Ribbon. Additional cast includes Cory Phillips, Kristian Eros, Jacob Alexander, Nicholas Markgraf, and Bryson Baugus.

Originally known as Akuyaku Reijo nano de Last Boss wo Kattemimashita, it comes from writer Sarasa Nagase and illustrator Mai Murasaki. The novel series began in 2017 with print editions handled by Kadokawa. It’s at nine-light novel volumes and is listed as ongoing in Japan. A spinoff manga began in 2018 with Yuzu Anko handling the adaptation in Comp Ace and it has three volumes to its name before ending in 2019. Yen Press brought out the first volume in October 2021 for both the novel and manga.

Plot Concept: What’s the best thing to do when the shock of a broken engagement revives memories of a past life? Break all the rules, obviously! That’s exactly how a villainous young lady should act and there’s no better way to do that except claiming the demon king as her own…

I’m the Villainess, So I’m Taming the Final Boss is a romantic fantasy isekai in which our heroine (or our villainess, as the case may be) is reincarnated in the world of an otome game and starts her own evil enterprise.
