Disney+ Reveals ‘Werewolf by Night’ Special Trailer

A 70s classic finds a new life.

While there are a lot of properties that Marvel has that may not be able to sustain a full series (though this isn’t one of them), the potential for specials and event kind of projects makes for some good exploitation. Marvel Studios previously revealed plans for a Halloween 2022 special for Werewolf by Night. The cast includes Gael Carcia Bernal and Laura Donnelly as formally announced so far and now as part of D23 Expo, they’ve dropped an enticing first teaser trailer for it in all its black and white glory.

It’s set for an October 7th, 2022 debut as part of Phase 4. The special is directed by Michael Giacchino.

There are a couple of different characters that have held the name over the years, the original Jack Russell from 1972, and then Jake Gomez from the new incarnation in 2020. It’s like a combination of both that will serve as inspiration for this project.

Property Concept: Jack Russell is a descendant of the mystically-altered offshoot of humans known as Lycanthropes, who eventually becomes capable of transforming on his own volition even without a full moon, and retaining his intellect while transformed.
