The Overlord series is likely looking to juice the book publishing side again as a fourth season was announced for the light novel property back in May of 2021. We learned at the time that the new season is set to cover the Holy Kingdom arc from the novels. A theatrical film is also in the works.

With it getting underway with a July 5th, 2022 premiere, the folks at Crunchyroll have started in on the clip side with this piece from the seventh episode where Ains got some dragon parts!

The project is bringing back the main cast and staff with it as Naoyuki Itou is directing based on the scripts overseen by Yukie Sugawara. Satoshi Tasaki is adapting so-bin’s designs with Madhouse handling the animation production.

The opening theme song is “HOLLOW HUNGER” from OxT while the ending theme song is “No Man’s Dawn” from Mayu Maeshima.

Check out our review of the first season.

The series comes from author Kugane Maruyama with illustrations by so-bin that’s published by Enterbrain. It began in the summer of 2012 and released its fourteen volumes so far, which are released by Yen Press domestically along with the manga adaptation. The series has had two drama CDs released with previous volumes and three seasons of the anime.

The series will star Satoshi Hino as Ains, Yumi Hara as Albedo, Sumire Uesaka as Shalltear, Emiri Katō as Aura, Yumi Uchiyama as Mare, Masayuki Katou as Demiurge, and Kenta Miyake as Cocytus.

Plot Concept: On the night his favorite MMORPG is scheduled to be shut down, veteran player Momonga stays logged in until the clock hits zero. The screen goes dark for only a few moments before he finds himself completely immersed in the world of Yggdrasil. Left with all of his character’s devastating powers, total dominion over his NPCs, and nothing better to do…Momonga decides to take over the world.
