‘Thor: Love And Thunder’ Sets Disney+ Premiere

2 min read

Originally planned fall 2021 debut before the pandemic threw everything askew, the fourth film in the series with Thor: Love and Thunder was due out on May 6th, 2022 before it got moved to its final date of July 8th, 2022. The main production wrapped up principal photography back in June 2021 and has been doing effects and other work since then.

With a $700 million worldwide take that has a few markets that it wasn’t able to play in, the film is now getting ready for its streaming debut. It’s now been scheduled for a September 8th, 2022 arrival as part of Disney+ Day. It’ll be accompanied by the Assembled: The Making of Thor: Love and Thunder special as well.

The film has Taika Waititi directing based on the script he co-wrote with Jennifer Kaytin Robinson.

The cast includes:

  • Chris Hemsworth as Thor
  • Tessa Thompson as Valkyrie
  • Natalie Portman as Jane Foster / Mighty Thor
  • Christian Bale as Gorr the God Butcher
  • Chris Pratt as Peter Quill / Star-Lord
  • Jaimie Alexander as Sif
  • Dave Bautista as Drax the Destroyer
  • Karen Gillan as Nebula
  • Sean Gunn as Kraglin Obfonteri
  • Jeff Goldblum as Grandmaster

Plot Concept: The film finds Thor (Chris Hemsworth) on a journey unlike anything he’s ever faced – a quest for inner peace. But his retirement is interrupted by a galactic killer known as Gorr the God Butcher (Christian Bale), who seeks the extinction of the gods. To combat the threat, Thor enlists the help of King Valkyrie (Tessa Thompson), Korg (Taika Waititi) and ex-girlfriend Jane Foster (Natalie Portman), who – to Thor’s surprise – inexplicably wields his magical hammer, Mjolnir, as the Mighty Thor. Together, they embark upon a harrowing cosmic adventure to uncover the mystery of the God Butcher’s vengeance and stop him before it’s too late.
