The folks at ICv2 have pulled together the data to build a top twenty list of what moved during the month of July 2022 when it came to non-kids graphic novels. While the last few months have given up a slot for a non-manga title, January through May 2022 brought us back to the whole list being full of manga.
July presents a bit of a surprise as there are three titles that aren’t manga related and one of them is a superhero title, something that hasn’t happened ni years it looks like. The second volume of Lore Olympus arrived from Del Rey and it takes the first and sixth spots with hardcover and softcover editions. The other title is the fifth-place release of TMNT: The Last Ronin.
Seven Seas also helps to break up the usual deluge of Viz Media titles this month with the Tokyo Revengers omnibus landing in eleventh place. Dark horse Comics slides in two slots with Berserk in its deluxe editions. But all of this serves to keep Yen Press off the list as well as Kodansha. It’s a really rare month where we don’t have a certain Toilet-Bound property here.
This month also shows a slowdown for Spy x Family as it drops from seven to four, but it’s easy to see that coming back into play in the fall and as new volumes are released. It’s still drawing in new readers much like Chainsaw Man is and that’s without the anime out yet.
