The Sweet Tooth comic series from Jeff Lemire saw its streaming debut last year on Netflix and it went over pretty well all things told. Unfortunately, a lot of shows on Netflix never get a home video release but with this ones origins, we’re definitely glad to see it could get one. Warner Bros. has set an October 11th, 2022 release for the complete first season collection through its Warner Archive Collection. Coming in at 480 minutes, it’ll feature 5.1 English audio and the English closed captions for it. The also has digital to own coming as well.
Originally published by DC Vertigo, we saw this time last year that project was being set up at Netflix with Team Downey producing it, which is Robert Downey, Jr. and Susan Downey’s production company. It’s also got Jim Mickle and Beth Schwartz involved along with Warner Bros. TV.
The project has cast Christian Convery (Beautiful Boy), Nonso Anozie (The Laundromat), Adeel Akhtar (Les Misérables) and Will Forte (The Last Man on Earth) star with James Brolin as the voice of the narrator.
Plot Concept: Seven years ago, the Affliction raged like a forest fire, killing billions. The only children born since are part of a new breed of human-animal hybrids. Gus is one of these children, a boy with a sweet soul, a sweeter tooth-and the features of a deer.
When vicious hunters descend on his isolated forest home, a mysterious and violent man called Jepperd rescues Gus. The hulking drifter promises to lead Gus to The Preserve, a fabled safe-haven for hybrid children.
As the two cross this dangerous new American frontier, will Jepperd corrupt the boy he’s nicknamed Sweet Tooth, or will Gus’s heart change Jepperd?
