GKIDS is dipping back into the pool once again for this releases as a new DVD/BD release for the Studio Ghibli film Ocean Waves has been scheduled. The film originally saw separate releases on April 18th, 2017 priced at $29.98 and $34.98 respectively where it’s in Japanese only with English subtitles.
Now, a combined DVD/BD release is set for October 11th, 2022 from the distributor where it’ll contain a booklet, the storyboards on-disc, the staff reunion, and the second episode of The Ghiblies.

Plot Concept: Rarely seen outside of Japan, OCEAN WAVES is a subtle, poignant and wonderfully detailed story of adolescence and teenage isolation. Taku and his best friend Yutaka are headed back to school for what looks like another uneventful year. But they soon find their friendship tested by the arrival of Rikako, a beautiful new transfer student from Tokyo whose attitude vacillates wildly from flirty and flippant to melancholic. When Taku joins Rikako on a trip to Tokyo, the school erupts with rumors, and the three friends are forced to come to terms with their changing relationships.
