The mobile game for Lapis Re:LiGHTs moved into some new territory with an anime adaptation in the works that saw a July 4th, 2020 debut in Japan. Funimation picked up the show and has been releasing the simulcast for it and they’re now expanding the distribution for it. The series is the latest one to be added to Crunchyroll as the two services merge and the shows that Funimation was streaming are now being added there. The show never saw a dub so it’s only been added in its original Japanese language with English subtitles.
Hiroyuki Hata directed the show with Hajim Asanoe and Kasumi Tsuchida overseeing the scripts for it. Taro Ikegami handled the character designs while Yokohama Animation Labs is on board for the animation production.
The Japanese cast includes Yukari Anzai as Tiara, Risa Kubota as Rosetta, Live Mukai as Lavie, Iori Saeki as Ashley, Mizuki Yamamoto as Lynette, Hazuki Hoshino as Emilia, Tomomi Mineuchi as Alpha, Yū Sasahara as Salsa, Yōko Nakayama as Garnet, Rina Honizumi as Nadeshiko, Arisa Suzuki as Tsubaki, Yūko Ōno as Kaede, Yūkimi Hayase as Ratura, Seka Hirose as Champe, Hikaru Akao as Maryberry, Yuka Amemiya as Angelica, Risae Matsuda as Lucifer, Yū Sakuragi as Yue, Saeko Oku as Mille Feuille, Haruka Itou as Fiona, Kana Hanazawa as Eliza, Yoshino Nanjō as Chloe, Yuka Amemiya as Angers, Sumire Uesaka as Camilla, and Ayane Sakura as Yuzuriha.
Plot Concept: Tiara a princess, wants to be a witch and enrolls the academy her sister graduated from, against her sister’s wish. In the academy Tiara, keeping her identity hidden, joins a group i the verge of getting expelled and together will learn how to use magic as they try to become idols of the academy and avoid expulsion.
