The spring 2022 season with Aharen-san was Hakarenai, aka Aharen is Indecipherable, is getting its home video releases handled by Happinet in Japan. The distributor has set a three-volume release on Blu-ray only that begins on July 29th, 2022. The twelve-episode series will have each volume priced at 12,000 yen. While we’ve got a bit to go for that second volume still, we now have a look at the cover artwork for it! Check out the known details and full schedule below!
The series has Yasutaka Yamamoto serving as the chief director with Tomoe Makino directing it based on the scripts overseen by Takao Yoshioka. Yuko Yahiro ish handling the character designs and Felix Films is handling the animation production.
The Japanese cast includes Inori Minase as Reina Aharen, Takuma Terashima as Raido, M.A.O as Mitsuki Ōshiro, Kana Hanazawa as Ms. Tōharu, Tetsuya Kakihara as Ishikawa, Tomori Kusunoki as Hanako Sato, Yurie Kozakai as Ms. Miyahira, Rika Nagae as Raido, Natsumi Fujiwara as Atsushi, and Maria Sashide as Futaba.
The dub has Emily Fajardo directing it based on the scripts from Madeleine Morris overseen by Bonny Clinkenbeard. The English cast includes Ben Balmaceda as Raido, Dani Chambers as Aharen, Kristen McGuire as Ooshiro, Jalitza Delgado as Raido’s Sister, and Tia Ballard as Miyahira.
TrySail is performing the opening theme song “Hanarenai Kyori” (Inseparable Distance), while HaKoniwalily will perform the ending theme song “Kyori-Kan” (A Sense of Distance).

Plot Concept: The teen romantic comedy follows the “indecipherable” daily life of short, quiet Reina Aharen and Raidō who sits next to her in class. Aharen is not so good at gauging the distance between people (or personal boundaries), and Raidō initially sensed some distance between the two of them. Then one day, when Raidō picked up the eraser that Aharen had dropped, the distance between them suddenly became uncomfortably close.
From “way too distant” to “way too close” … Aharen is simply unpredictable.
