Key’s ‘Prima Doll’ TV Anime Sets Premiere With New Promo & Key Visual

The folks at Key announced the Prima Doll property back in the fall of 2020 and they’ve expanded the mixed media project out to the anime side as well. With the series set for a July 2022 debut, it’s been a bit since we had any news with the production. As we get closer to the summer season more is starting to come in, such as the reveal of a July 8th, 2022 premiere on Tokyo MX and MBS in Japan. Additionally, a new promotional video featuering the theme songs arrived below along with a new key visual.

The series has Tensho directing it with Toya Akano and Kai handling the scripts and series composition. Akane Yano is adapting the character designs by Na-Ga, Fuzichoco, Yui Hara, En Morikura, and lack while Bibury Animation Studios is handling the production.

The Japanese cast includes:

  • Azumi Waki as Haizakura
  • Tomori Kusunoki as Karasuba
  • Miyu Tomita as Gekka
  • Yuki Nakashima as Hо̄kiboshi
  • Akari Kitō as Retzel
  • Ayumu Murase as Nagi Tōma
  • Misaki Kuno as Chiyo
  • Ayaka Suwa as Otome Okunomiya

The opening theme song is “Tin Toy Melody” by Chat Noir.

Plot Concept: The project centers on autonomous mechanical dolls, or automata. They work at Kuronekotei, a coffee shop that sits at the corner of the fifth district of the imperial capital. However, they were originally made as weapons for a great war that ended a few years ago. Now, they have been restored and dressed in shiny kimonos.
