Netflix Reveals 3rd ‘Locke & Key’ Season Trailer & Premiere

2 min read
Locke & Key follows 3 siblings who, after the murder of their father, move to their ancestral home only to find the house has magical keys that give them a vast array of powers and abilities.

We’ve noted before just how crazy it’s been following the progress of this property for what feels like close to a decade now as it’s gone through a couple of pilots and had pickups in multiple networks. With the success of the first season of Locke & Key series on Netflix, which debuted back on February 7th, 2020 the streaming service ordered a new season a month or so after that premiere.

While things surely took a bit longer to get up and running because of COVID-19, the second season saw an October 22nd, 2021 premiere. It’s one that did well in the rankings for a bit. The series was confirmed for a third and final season where, according to Deadline, “Ellie Whedon (Saum) and her son Rufus (Coby Bird) return to Matheson. Ellie continues to be haunted by her time spent behind the Black Door while facing a new and ever more dangerous threat that looms over the town.”

Now, as part of Geeked Week, a new trailer has been revealed for the third season with the reveal of an August 10th, 2022 premiere for it. Check it out below.

The cast includes Robert Scott from It playing Bode Locke, Connor Jessup from American Crime as Tyler Locke and Emilia Jones from Utopia has joined as Kinsey Locke.

The series is set for a 10 episode order.

Original creator Joe Hill remains on the creative side along with Carlton Cuse and they’ll be joined by Aron Eli Coleite and Meredith Averill in going forward. Cuse and Averill will serve as the showrunners for it. There’s a good sense that they’re viewing this as a spiritual successor of sorts to Stranger Things in my viewing and wanting a greater stake in the IP makes that clearer.

Plot concept: Locke & Key tells the story of Nina Locke and her three children, Tyler, Kinsey, and Bode, who survive an unspeakable horror and attempt to rebuild their lives at Keyhouse, their family home in Lovecraft, Massachusetts. It is a mysterious New England mansion, with fantastic and transformative keys hidden inside its walls that are also being sought by a hate-filled and relentless creature with ties to the Locke family’s past who will stop at nothing to accomplish his sinister goals.
