The fall 2017 anime series Just Because! is getting some renewed attention as NBC Universal Japan has gone and added their opening theme song for the show to their YouTube channel. The song is “over and over” by Nagi Yanagi and is being presented as part of the NBC Universal Anime ✕ Music 30th Project.

The show saw a 2019 Blu-ray release through Sentai Filmworks and is still in print and available from retailers while it also has streaming through HIDIVE to check out.

Check out our review of the series.

The show was directed by Atsushi Kobayashi based on the script by Hajime Kamoshita. Hiroyuki Yoshii adapted the character designs from Kiseki Himura’s original concepts while Pine Jam is the animation studio behind it.

The Japanese cast includes Yuna Yoshino as Hazuki Morikawa, Taishi Murata as Haruto Sōma, Karin Isobe as Mio Natsumi, Aoi Ichikawa as Eita Izumi, and Lynn as Ena Komiya.

The background on some of the creators is notable here as Hajime Kamoshita created the Pet Girl of Sakurasou manga and was involved in scripts for it while also writing several scripts for Mobile Suit Gundam: Iron-Blooded Orphans. Kiseki Himura did the art for the Sword Art Online: Progressive manga series.

Plot Concept: It’s the last semester of high school and graduation is finally in sight for Haruto Soma and Mio Natsume. All they have to do now is keep studying and avoid any major drama until they get their diplomas. Unfortunately, that plan is completely derailed by the reappearance of their mutual friend Eita Izumi, who moved away four years ago and has suddenly transferred back. Now things are a bit awkward for all three. They’re not the same people they were in middle school, and reconnecting will mean addressing old issues and unresolved feelings. It won’t be easy; it could be painful. And the results will change not only their futures, but those of their fellow students, as fate proves that it can alter the course of a lifetime in a single instant in JUST BECAUSE!
