The story revolves around Takumi Harada, a young man who moves to a mountain town in Okayama prefecture during the spring break before he enters middle school due to his father’s job transfer.

Battery Visual 6-3The summer 2016 anime series Battery is one of a few properties that ended up unlicensed after streaming until Discotek Media picked it up in 2019 and released it in 2020. The property is based on the manga that began in 2005 which adapted the novel series from the mid-90s. Though there was a hiatus in the midst of its run since 2005, the manga was set to wrap up in September 2021 in Asuka magazine where it’s serialized by Chikage Yuniwa. There are nine volumes out so far so a tenth and final volume will wrap up the adaptation.

That didn’t happen for a few reasons, including a hiatus, but now things are set to wrap up. The final chapter is set for the July 23rd, 2022 installment of Asuka magazine and will bring the manga, which began in 2004, to a close.

The series set Tomomi Mochizuki to direct and script it with Takako Shimura handling the character designs and also serving as the chief animation director. Zero-G produced the series animation.

The cast includes Kouki Uchiyama as Takumi Harada, Tasuku Hatanaka as Ko Nagakura, Yui Fujimaki as Seiha Harada, Yuuki Ono as Shuugo Kadowaki, Ryouhei Kimura as Shunji Mizugaki, Ayumu Murase as Fumito Sawaguchi, Kaito Ishikawa as Keita Higashidani and Yuuichirou Umehara as Kazuki Kaionji.

The opening theme song is “Itsuka no Jibun” by anderlust while the ending theme song is “Ashita, Haru ga Kitara”, also by anderlust.
