‘Hirano and Kagiura’ Manga Shifts Publication Schedule

2 min read

The fine folks at Yen Press earlier this month announced a new pickup with the acquisition of Hirano and KagiuraThe property is a spin-off to the popular boys’ love series Sasaki and Miyano, which just had an anime adaptation. The first volume of Hirano and Kagiurais scheduled to release in October 2022. The Sasaki and Miyano series is already being released from Yen Press and has eight volumes out in Japan since starting in 2016.

A bit of a surprising tidbit surfaced for those that follow things on the Japanese side but the property, which is a monthly release one, is now shifting to a quarterly serialization for an indeterminate amount of time. It is planned to go back to a monthly schedule later, but it’s unclear how long it’ll go quarterly. With it not saying anything specific, one can figure that it’ll be for at least half a year before it shifts back as they’d otherwise say that it’s planned for just a couple of breather months and build-up from there.

The Hirano and Kagiura series come from creator Shou Harusono which began in 2019 as serialized in Comic Gene magazine for Media Factory. It has three volumes out so far and is ongoing in Japan.

Plot concept: Basketball players. Bad boys who aren’t really bad boys. Roommates. Senpai-kouhai BL romance. It all started when Kagiura moved into the school dorms with what seemed to be a bad-boy upperclassman. But after he’s left in the tender care of his mother hen of a roommate, Hirano, it’s too much to ask for Kagiura not to fall in love…right?!

From the author of Sasaki and Miyano comes Hirano and Kagiura, a spin-off filled with answers to the questions Miyano never knew he had. Do they like-like each other? Are they dating? What juicy things do they get up to behind closed doors?!
