Content (please note that content portions of a review may contain spoilers):
On a dark and stormy night at his estate, the High Priest and his villainous guests calmly discuss the failure to kidnap a certain blue-robed priestess during the Spring Prayer, with all disappointed but particularly Viscountess Dahdolf who wanted to make the girl and Ferdinand to suffer, especially after the loss of her son Schicicoza due to his failure to protect the commoner during the subjugation of the trombe. However, as each vile co-conspirator complains as to their part in the scheme, it is visiting Count Bindewald who voices his interest in buying the child in question, with his main obstacle being Aub Ehrenfest’s permission in order to facilitate the adoption into his domain of Ahrensbach, prompting Viscount Gerlach to persuade their leader it would be in all of their best interests for such a deal to happen, even as the rotund man chuckles with delight. But it is Viscountess Dahdolf reminds all it was the Head Priest who declared before the knights that Myne was under his protection, so if his apprentice was sold off, it would make Ferdinand suffer as well, with each following up this argument that such a loss would only improve all of their circumstances, prompting their host Lord Bezewanst to use his influence to make such a sale possible.
As Myne brags about her new baby brother Kamil to any will listen on their trip to Gilberta Company, it is Benno who has the least interest in her tale, due to Otto and Corinna constantly reminding the new uncle about his niece Renate, who will be the heiress to his business, expressing his need for the inventive girl to look after her whenever possible as he feigns boredom with every cute thing the infant does, even if they are incidents of the child acting up. But as he closes this conversation and prompts Myne to discuss their next step in the printing process, sadly the girl states they will not be able to progress after her discussion with Ferdinand since it would be dangerous to provoke nobles against their vested interests, so she will dedicate her time into making only picture books. And yet as Benno gets suspicious with this turn of events, he knows the girl is scheming something and is not surprised by her idea to introduce colored inks to the process and improvements to their current technology, prompting him to introduce his partner to the new foreman of the Ink Guild, only if she received permission from the Head Priest. However, as she returns to the cathedral and begins enlightening her staff as to the new addition to her family, all are surprised when Wilma interrupts the discussion as she carries a bundle in her arms, prompting this sullen caretaker to relate how an unfortunate woman dropped off the child as an offering to the gods, but none of the assembled know what they are supposed to do next since this type of incident has never happened.
In Summary:
While it was fun to see inner versions of the other characters, this episode begins on a nauseating note due to the sickening escapades of the High Priest and his cohorts in their efforts to kidnap Myne to sell her off and lessen all of their problems. Although we did suspect Lord Bezewanst would go to any lengths to be rid of his problem, it is not surprising he is involved with the underhanded dealings of other nobles, making us hate this vile man even more, all while his actions from the first seasons displayed his vile proclivities, allowing the audience to fully understand he would be a symbol for the protagonists for this series. However as Myne continues to peruse her interests with ignorance as to what is happening around her, one cannot but wonder if the problems which surround her will begin closing in, making the audience worry if the happiness of this show will soon vanish and be swallowed up due to greed and hatred from self-interested nobles.
