For those that missed the theatrical run and didn’t pick up the home video release, In This Corner of the World is about to become even easier to check out as it’s basically being put right in front of you. Shout! Factory TV has brought the film out on Tubi streaming service to check out for free, which means it can’t get any easier beyond streaming it directly into your brain.

The film was directed by Sunao Katabuchi at MAPPA with Genco also producing and with Chie Uratani writing the composition and serving as the assistant director. Hidenori Matsubara served as both character designer and animation director.
The Japanese cast includes Rena Nounen as Suzu, Yoshimasa Hosoya as Shūsaku, Natsuki Inaba as Harumi, Minori Omi as Michiko, Daisuke Ono as Akira, Megumi Han as Sumi, Shigeru Ushiyama as Entaro, Mayumi Shintani as San, Nanase Iwai, and Tengai Shibuya.
The film debuted in Japan back on November 12th, 2016 while the North American home video release had an October 10th, 2017 release with the DVD priced at $16.97 and the DVD/BD combo at $22.97.
Kouno originally wrote the manga back in 2007 to 2009 where it was serialized in Manga Action magazine, resulting in three compiled volumes released.
Plot Concept: The award-winning story of IN THIS CORNER OF THE WORLD follows a young lady named Suzu Urano, who in 1944 moves to the small town of Kure in Hiroshima to live with her husband’s family. Suzu’s life is thrown into chaos when her town is bombed during World War II. Her perseverance and courage underpin this heart-warming and inspirational tale of the everyday challenges faced by the Japanese in the midst of a violent, war-torn country. This beautiful yet poignant tale shows that even in the face of adversity and loss, people can come together and rebuild their lives.
