Nee-chan’s Secret Hentai Manga Review

3 min read
It's light and flirty, and certainly sexy, but it isn't able to capitalize on what it really could be.

Friends of the family you want to have.

Originally appearing in the April 2020 installment of Comic Bavel, this chapter comes from the Hiroshiki and clocks in at twenty pages. They’ve been producing in the magazine since 2015 and there are almost twenty other chapters on FAKKU to check out from them. I struggled with some of their work from several years ago but tried a little more last year and have kept them on my notifications list to check out again. So when this new chapter landed after not seeing anything since summer 2021, I figured I’d give it one more chance because what could it hurt, right?

This story introduces us to Umi, a young woman whose family runs a small restaurant on the bottom floor of their home. We see how friends of the family have been staying nearby for Obon or some other festival and, as we learn at the end, hope to visit again sometime soon. The family includes Yuu, a young man that has had a slightly contentious relationship with Umi over the years and is looking forward to trying to get her in trouble. When he waits in her room for her as they’re going to hang out for a bit he finds some dirty magazines under her bed that he can threaten her and blackmail her over. It’s a simple kind of plan and Yuu does not come across as someone who has grown up well enough yet if he’s doing something like this. To his surprise, however, Umi reveals that she has those because she’s curious and sees nothing wrong with naughty things.

And that gets him to be more aggressive with her only to see her completely interested and compliant to his suggestions, which leads to them basically getting into some pretty standard vanilla fare material, but with the intensity and surprise of first-timers. Yuu lucks out in that she’s seemingly open to anything but I like that he’s shocked by how great everything feels and that she’s so responsive – and that he’s realizing just how attractive she is. It plays well with the two of them going to the edge a couple of times and some fun exploration. The whole thing basically turns on Yuu having his expectations upended and Umi makes that happen really easily because of her attitude and openness to it. Which makes him kind of panicking early on while playing at the tough guy so much fun as she undermines him at each step without even realizing what he’s trying to do.

In Summary
I do wish this was a couple of pages longer so there was a better setup at the start of it but overall it definitely works pretty well. First-timers are a familiar subgenre with hentai and it can go in any number of directions, so a simple but effective piece like this that has fun with it rather than going brutal or something is far more enjoyable. Hiroshiki’s artwork is a big part of the appeal and I really like the designs in general and some of the early setting pieces used, which are returned to somewhat sparingly in the more adult sequences themselves, definitely helps to give it some welcome color and familiarity. Definitely better than a lot of the other chapters I’d read a few years back.
