Nozomi Schedules ‘El-Hazard: The Wanderers’ Blu-ray Anime Release

2 min read

It’s time to return to one of my favorite worlds as another property is getting a Blu-ray upgrade with El-Hazard: The Wanderers. The first time on Blu-ray edition is now scheduled for a June 14th, 2022 release priced at $59.99. The set will be bilingual as past editions were and will include the clean theme songs and an art gallery as extras.

Check out our review of the series.

Originally airing in the fall 1995 season, the show had Katsuhito Akiyama as the series director while Kazuto Nakazawa served as the character designer. AIC handled the production for it.

The Japanese cast includes Tetsuya Iwanaga as Makoto Mizuhara, Etsuko Kozakura as Alielle, Kikuko Inoue as Rune Venus, Kōji Ishii as Mr. Fujisawa, Rio Natsuki as Nanami Jinnai, Ryotaro Okiayu as Katsuhiko Jinnai, and Tomo Sakurai as Shayla-Shayla.

The English dub was directed by Jenny Haniver at ZRO Limit Productions with an English cast that includes Christy Mathewson as Makoto Mizuhara, Bob Marx as Katsuhiko Jinnai, Dougary Grant as Bugrom, Julie Pickering as Ifurita, Lia Sargent as Nanami Jinnai, Melissa Charles as Alielle, Melissa Williamson as Queen Diva and Shayla-Shayla, Mimi Woods as Shayla-Shayla, Ruby Marlowe as Rune Venus, and William Frederick Knight as Dr. Schtalubaugh.

Plot concept: Makoto always upstages Jinnai without trying, which just aggravates the delusional rivalry that Jinnai has concocted within his own mind. However, when Jinnai attempts to sabotage Makoto’s newest invention, the machine creates a dimensional rift and throws Makoto, Jinnai, and several others from their school into a strange, new world that is filled with amazing creatures, beautiful sights, and dangerous enemies. If they ever want to get home, it’s going to take wits, courage, and a lot of luck in El-Hazard: The Wanderers!
