German distributor AniMoon Publishing has added another title to their upcoming slate of releases with the Lucky Star series. The company will be bringing out the bilingual series on Blu-ray for the first time in the area where it’ll also include the OVA. It’s scheduled for an April 8th, 2022 debut for the first volume in a mediabook edition priced at 44.99€.
The distributor is now rolling out clips from the show in bilingual form with this first clip highlighting the character of Rubina Nath as played by Kagami Hiiragi.
The show originally ran in 2007 and started off as a series of elaborate releases from Bandai and Kadokawa in North America that eventually slimmed down a lot over time as sales weren’t as strong as they had thought they would be. The Japanese releases are also a bit tricky in that the Blu-ray releases there are upscales, which has us wondering if FUNimation will be releasing it in that format. With previous upscales, of which there have been almost none lately, they do list that they are that and not native HD releases.
Plot Concept: What’s the best way to eat dessert? Do twins really have a psychic connection? What kind of guys are into moe girls? These are the kinds of questions that float through the inquisitive mind of anime super-fan Konata Izumi. When she’s not lost in her favorite manga or logging hours in one of her online games, she’s debating the mysteries of the universe with the best friends a girl could ask for.
And while they might not share Konata’s refined eye for anime tropes and trivia, she doesn’t hold it against them. After all, Miyuki Takara is a precious moe dream girl, and twin sisters Tsukasa and Kagami are always there when she needs a helping hand or a notebook to copy homework from (even if Kagami insists on being totally tsundere about it). At the end of the day, Konata could look far and wide, but she’d never find a better group of girls to get her through the horrors of high school!
