Toei Schedules Reveals 1st ‘Dragon Ball Super’ Anime DVD/BD Full Box Set Artwork & Box Design

3 min read

Dragon Ball Super VisualThe folks at Toei rolled out the Dragon Ball Super Japanese DVD and Blu-ray box sets awhile ago with the eleven-set run wrapping up in the summer of 2018. The distributor recently decided that the time is right to bring out the show in two complete half-series box sets that will debut in early 2022. They’re going for both formats on it, which is welcome, and the pricing is fantastic when you consider you were spending an average of 13,000 yen per set previously. While we had a look at the main box artwork before, we now have the full packaging spread for the set with all the discs and interior pieces below.

The schedule is currently set with:

  • TV series first part (eps 1 – 72): February 2, 2022
    – BD-Box: 36,080 yen
    – DVD-Box: 28,380 yen
  • TV series last part (pes 73 – 131): March 2, 2022
    – BD-Box: 29,480 yen
    – DVD-Box: 21,780 yen

The first set comes with a booklet, the clean opening and closing, and the audio commentary for the 70th episode. The second set has a booklet, the clean opening and closing, and a one-hour special for episodes 109-110.

The cast includes Masako Nozawa as Son Goku, Son Gohan and Son Goten, Ryo Horikawa as Vegeta, Hiromi Tsuru as Bulma, Takeshi Kusao as Trunks, Mayumi Tanaka as Krillin, Masaharu Satou as Kame-Sen’nin, Toshio Furukawa as Piccolo, Naoko Watanabe as Chi-Chi, Yuko Minaguchi as Videl, Unshou Ishizuka as Mr. Satan, Kôzô Shioya as Majin Buu, Kouichi Yamadera as God of Destruction Beerus and Masakazu Morita as Whis.

Plot concept: Reuniting the franchise’s iconic characters, Dragon Ball Super will follow the aftermath of Goku’s fierce battle with Majin Buu, as he attempts to maintain earth’s fragile peace. Overseen by Dragon Ball’s original creator, Akira Toriyama and produced with Fuji Television, Dragon Ball Super will draw on its historic past to create a bold, new universe welcoming to fans and endearing to new viewers.
