Sun Takeda’s manga series Gleipnir saw its anime adaptation as part of the spring 2020 season and we’ve seen a few English releases come up around the world. Now, we’re focusing a bit on the German release of it through Peppermint Anime, who has the first set out on November 18th, 2021 followed by the second volume on January 13th, 2022. With that working through, we now have the first clip from the series in German.

The German release is directed by Christian Hanisch with a cast that includes Benjamin Stolz as Shuuichi Kagaya, Katharina Iacobescu as Claire Aoki, Cindy Kepke as Hikawa, Katharina von Daake as Nana Mifune, Kerstin Julia Dietrich as Honoka, and Peggy Pollow as Elena Aoki.

The adaptation has Kazuhiro Yoneda directing based on the series composition by Shinichi Inotsume. Takahiro Kishida is working on the character designs with PINE JAM handling the animation production.

The Japanese cast includes Natsuki Hanae as Shuichi Kagaya, Nao Tōyama as Kurea Aoki, Kana Hanazawa as Erena Aoki, Takahiro Sakurai as Alien, Miku Itō as Nana Mifune, Yoshiaki Hasegawa as Abukawa, Shizuka Ishigami as Hikawa, Hiroki Yasumoto as Tadanori Sanbe, Kana Ichinose as Chihiro Yoshioka, Shōya Chiba as Ikeuchi, and Yō Taichi as Subaru.

The English dub cast includes Ry McKeand as Shuichi, Brittney Karbowski as Clair, Kyle Igneczi as Alien, Morgan Lauré as Elena, Xanthe Huynh as Nana, Dawn M. Bennett as Hikawa, Nicholas Andrew Louie as Abukawa, Hayden Daviau as Izumi, Brandon McInnis as Hatta, and Alejandro Saab as Iwao.

Amber Lee Connors serves as the ADR director with scripts by Leah Clark under the supervision of Bonny Clinkenbeard. Marissa Lenti served as the assistant ADR director.

The manga from Sun Takeda began in 2015 and has six volumes out as of March 2019. The manga was picked up for release by Kodansha Comics in digital form last July in English.

Plot Concept: Gleipnir follows typical high schooler Kagaya Shuichi after he discovers that he can turn into a cartoon dog with a gun. Yes, you read that right.  Kagaya, after finding that one of his classmates is trapped in a fire, discovers that he can turn into a dog with a giant gun. He saves the girl, and the two share the knowledge of Kagaya’s secret.

But Kurea Aoki has other motives. She’s on the hunt for her family’s killer—her sister. Just how far will she go for retribution? And at what cost to Kagaya?
