Pony Canyon Schedules ‘Taisho Otome Otogi Banashi’ Anime DVD/BD Sets

The fall 2021 anime adaptation of the Taisho Otome Otogi Banashi manga from Sana Kirioka is getting its home video releases handled by Pony Canyon. The twelve-episode series is being released as two sets that begin on January 5th, 2022, and completes on February 2nd, 2022 with six episodes each. They’re both priced at 16,000 yen on DVD and 18,000 yen on Blu-ray. Check out the full schedule and details below.

The series will be directed by Jun Hatori based on the scripts by Hiroko Fukuda. Mayu Watanabe is handling the character designs with Synergy SP handling the animation production.

The Japanese cast includes Yūsuke Kobayashi as Tamahiko Shima, Saya Aizawa as Yuzuki Tachibana, Yume Miyamoto as Tamako Shima, Chika Anzai as Ryō, Ayasa Itō as Kotori Shiratori, and Shunichi Toki as Hakaru Shiratori.

The series features the opening theme “Otome no Kokoroe” from GARNiDELia.

The manga by Sana Kirioka began in 2015 and has five volumes out as of completion in 2017. A sequel manga began in the Shonen Jump+ site and had five volumes out as of summer 2020 when it finished.

Plot Concept: The manga takes place in Japan’s Taisho era, and centers on Tamahiko Shima, a young man who lost the use of his right hand in an accident, and now lives in a rural area of Chiba prefecture to take care of his health. One day he meets the naive and devoted Yuzuki, whom Tamahiko’s father bought to be Tamahiko’s wife. Through this meeting, the pessimistic and withdrawn Tamahiko begins to change.
