Crunchyroll Sets ‘Seirei Gensouki: Spirit Chronicles’ Anime Dub Cast & Premiere

The summer 2021 anime adaptation of the light novel series Seirei Gensouki is getting some new attention. Crunchyroll has confirmed that it’s one of the shows getting an English-language dub and it’s now been scheduled for December 27th, 2021. The dub will be directed by Michael Schneider, who has a solid range of ADR credits that includes Promare and Battle Game in 5 Seconds as well as Number24.

The English cast includes:

  • Kieran Regan as Rio
  • Fionn Kinsella as Young Rio
  • Madeline Dorroh as Celia Claire
  • Morgan Lauré as Aishia
  • Julia Gu as Latifa
  • Sarah Williams as Miharu Ayase

The anime adaptation has set Osamu Yamasaki to direct it based on the series scripts they’ll work on along with Mitsutaka Hirota, Megumu Sasano, and Yoshiko Nakamura. Kyoko Yufu is handling the character design adaptation while TMS Entertainment and Wao World are handling the production.

The Japanese cast includes Yoshitsugu Matsuoka as Rio/Haruto Amakawa, Ayaka Suwa as Rio (young), Akane Fujita as Celia Claire, Yūki Kuwahara as Aishia, Tomori Kusunoki as Latifa, Sayaka Harada as Miharu Ayase, Sayumi Suzushiro as Christina Beltrum, Kaede Hondo as Flora Beltrum, Sayaka Kaneko as Roanna Fontaine, Kenji Hamada as Alfred Emerle, Atsushi Tamaru as Charles Arbor, Koji Yusa as Reiss Vulfe, Nao Tōyama as Liselotte Cretia, Hiyori Nitta as Sara, Yukina Shutō as Orphia, and Asuka Nishi as Alma.

The opening theme song is “New story” from Marika Kōno while Aguri Ōnishi performs the ending theme song “Elder flower.”

The property comes from writer Yuri Kitayama and artist Riv which began in 2014 and has a manga adaptation out there by Futago Minaduki as well. J-Novel Club previously picked up both the light novels and manga for release.

Plot Concept: His past life and current life are intersecting–a boy with memories of two lives faces his destiny! After his mother was killed at an early age, the orphaned Rio fought his hardest to survive in the slums. One day, he awakens to the memories of Haruto Amakwa, who died in an accident while dreaming of being reunited with his childhood friend, and Rio realizing he has reincarnated in a world of swords and sorcery. Not only that, but after helping stop an attempt to kidnap a princess that he stumbled upon, he finds himself enrolled in a famous school where the children of the nobility gather… As Rio attempts to rise up from the bottom of a hierarchical society, he will have new counters and say many goodbyes, as he fights to overcome fate.
