A new anime adaptation is in the works with the light novel series Banished from the Heroes’ Party serving as the source material. Originally set for the summer 2021 season, the show saw an October 6th, 2021 debut, and Funimation picked it up for streaming. The latest update comes from the Japanese side as they’ve dropped a new preview for the third episode that’s set for an October 20th, 2021 debut.
The series has Makoto Hoshino directing it based on the scripts by Megumi Shimizu. Ruruko Watanabe is working on the character designs with Wolfsbane and Studio Flad handling the animation production.
The Japanese cast includes Ryōta Suzuki as Red, Kanon Takao as Rit, Naomi Ōzora as Ruti, Sora Amamiya as Yarandrala, Taku Yashiro as Ares, Kōhei Amasaki as Albert, Masahiro Yamanaka as Gonz, Sora Tokui as Nao, Takeru Mishina as Mido, Yū Serizawa as Tanta, Nao Tōyama as Megria, Kentarō Tone as Dir, Ken Uo plays Newman, Yōji Ueda as Stormthunder, Aya Uchida as Theodora., Kenta Miyake as Danan, and Rie Kugimiya as Tise.
The light novel series, released in English by Yen Press, comes from writer Zappon with artwork by Yasumo which began in 2017. Kadokawa publishes the work that’s serialized online with seven volumes out so far. A manga adaptation is currently running in Monthly Shonen Ace by Masahiro Ikeno which has five volumes out as of the original announcement.
