2nd ‘Sumikko Gurashi’ Anime Film Reveals Bump Of Chicken Theme Song

2 min read
I just like saying Bump of Chicken.

Originally in theaters in Japan with a November 8th, 2019 debut, DMM Pictures brought out the Sumikko Gurashi movie based on the work by San-X. We learned in April 2021 that a second film is in the works that will have the subtitle of The Magical Child of the Blue Moonlit Night. This feature will be directed by Takahiro Omori based on the screenplay by Reiko Yoshida. Fanworks is again handling the animation production for it and it’s currently planned for a November 5th, 2021 debut.

The official site has now updated with a new promotional teaser for it that also reveals that Bump of Chicken is on board for the theme song, “Small world,” which we get a good taste of. Check it out below!

The first feature was directed by Mankyu based on the screenplay by Takashi Sumita. Fanworks handled the animation production for it.

The Japanese cast includes Yoshihiko Inohara and Manami Nanjō serving as the narrators for the project.

Plot Concept: The film’s story begins when the Sumikko Gurashi characters find a mysterious picture book in the basement of a cafe they always go to. The film will feature new locales, items, and characters.
